The Gathering 2018

All good to go?  If your name isn’t on the list & you are coming – you need to let us know ASAP!

Here are the Gathering 2018 band of brothers; Andy J*, Carl F*, Chris W, Darren O*, David B, David H, James C, Jonathan B-M*, Mike B*, Nick D, Phil R, Simon P*, Simon R*.  (Plus Darren’s significant others!*)

So what’s the plan?  We’ve organised some shared lifts, arriving from 1pm (through 7pm-ish).

The Friday evening events start at 7pm – so be there by then if you can.  We will have pasties on arrival – so grab one to stave off the hunger!

Guys with a star after your name above are bringing tents – thank you!

There will be a central ‘hub’ too where we’ll meet to chill and do food.

We will provide 3 main meals (breakfast – lunch – dinner) covering Friday night (pasties) Saturday and Sunday (inc lunch).  Shout if you have particular dietary requirements.

We have also come up with an ‘out of this world’ themed t-shirt for us each to wear Saturday evening.

All together the food and t-shirt will cost between £10 and £15.  Please settle that with Si P some point over the weekend (he’ll confirm the final cost then).

So what else do you need?

Standard stuff;

  • sleeping bag
  • sleep mat/camp bed
  • clothes (bearing in mind this is a men’s weekend, in a field!)
  • wash bag & towel (there are showers!)
  • Sun cream… it’s supposed to be sunny!
  • Torch… it’s a field in the middle of nowhere (near Swindon)
  • Something to eat on & with (it’s easier if you look after your own)
  • Bible & notepad
  • A little cash – there is a bar and usually book stalls etc

Optionally;

  • If there is something that would make your weekend better… bring it!! That could be snacks, beer, cider, juice or like me – great coffee

The event is due to finish about 1pm Sunday

See you in a field near Swindon!

June Coffee And Bible

BibleStudyCOFFEE & BIBLE IS THIS WEEKEND!

This Sunday is our evening spot for some coffee & bible.

So come and join us in the Rose Room (upstairs) at Christ Church, Warminster. We’ll start from 7.30pm (to 8:30ish) 17th June.

These catch-ups consist of a relaxed chat through a chapter or two from a book of the bible, of course with a coffee. (other drinks are available if necessary!)

Currently we’re looking at our partner organisation CVM’s Codelife study.  Don’t worry if you’ve not been before – these are easy dip in/dip out stand alone sessions (as well as a great series!).  You can read more here www.codelife.org.  This month we will look at;

Codelife – CODE VII – I will put the welfare of those closest to me before
my own welfare.

A few days ago I was chatting to one of my mates who doesn’t know Jesus
(yet!) and he asked me this question: ‘Why doesn’t God do all the huge
demonstrations of His power like you read in the Old Testament? You
know… like parting the Red Sea or sending down a fire ball from heaven. If
He did – I’d believe Him!’
My response was to smile and invite him to my church and more specifically
my men’s group. You see I’m of a belief that the greatest demonstration of
God’s unlimited power is to transform a human heart. It’s to change a
hateful man into a loving man. It’s to take a greedy guy and make him
generous. It’s to take a prejudiced person and make them all inclusive. It’s to
take a bitter person and fll them with peace. It’s to take the alcoholic and
make him clean, addiction free with a new start in life. Our churches and
men’s groups are full of people like this and they are the people I wanted him
to meet.
From the day and hour we surrender our lives to Jesus, that transformation
process begins and as we journey through life with Him day by day, reading
His Word and in relationship with Him, He continues to change us.
But perhaps, like me, one of the first things we realise when we give our life
to Jesus is that life isn’t just about me anymore – then the transformation
really begins!

Sunday June 17th, from 7:30pm in the Rose Room (upstairs) , Christ Church, Warminster.  We plan to make these meetings fit in everyday life, so we promise to finish at 8:30pm.

What is it like?  We take a chapter or two, read it through together & chat about what we find. Absolutely no experience of the bible is necessary, all you need is a thirst to find out more & a willingness to share in a safe environment.

Where is it? We will meet in the Rose Room (upstairs in the main church), Christ Church, Warminster; see map below.

What shall I bring?  Yourself!  We will supply coffee/tea and a bible if you like.

Is there any cost?  No, not a bean!

Look forward to seeing you there.
